Obituary of Catherine Mary Eckert

Catherine M. Eckert (nee Spangler) age 84, on Nov 18, 2014. Devoted wife of the late Raymond L. Eckert, Jr. Loving mother of Joseph (Eileen), Gregory (Diane) and Karen. Cherished grandmother of Daryl (Torri), Nicole (Nicholas) Karastamatis, Jeffrey (April), Katelyn (Stephen) Miceli, Jillian, Jesse Hein and Amanda Hein. Adored GGMa of Ben, Rachel, Dylan, Landon, Ava and Mason. She was predeceased by her sisters Lillian (James) Hynes and Irene Domanski. Catherine was a Philadelphia native and graduate of Little Flower High School. An avid seamstress , she enjoyed sewing her entire life and created many family heirlooms. She met the love of her life, Ray, at Crystal Palace Roller Rink learning to waltz. They shared a wonderful life together for 48 years, skating or dancing every week. Their home on LBI was a source of many treasured memories for their children, grandchildren, cousins, and family friends alike. Later in life she enjoyed many friendships and activities at her most recent residence, the Fountains at Cedar Parke. Relatives and friends are invited to the visitation on Friday, November 21, 2014 from 9 to 10 AM at the Christ the Redeemer Parish, Assumption Church, 318 Carl Hasselhan Drive in Atco, where a Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10 AM. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Surf City Volunteer Fire Co. & EMS, 713 Long Beach Blvd, Surf City, NJ 08008.
