Obituary of Lino D Gomes

Lino D. Gomes died on Sunday, December 14, 2014 at the age of 89. He was a resident of Cherry Hill, NJ. Beloved husband of Elina (da Costa Frias) and dear father of Dr. Anile (Walter) Martinez of Marlton, NJ and Rowena (Andrew) Sommer of Malabar, Fl. Cherished grandfather of Gabriella (Jose) Acevedo, Dr. Loren Martinez, and Alexander and Naomi Sommer. Born in Piedade, Goa, India, he immigrated to the U.S in 1959. Mr. Gomes earned a B.S. in Civil Engineering from the Poona Engineering College, India and earned a M.S. in Civil and Structural Engineering with a specialization in Foundations from The University of Notre Dame, Indiana. He retired from the American Waterworks Service Company after 37 years. He was actively involved in the NJ Goan Association, the Cherry Hill Senior Citizens Club, and the Saint Thomas More Parish. Viewing will be held at St Mary's Roman Catholic Church, 2001 Springdale Road, Cherry Hill, NJ 08003 from 10:00 - 10:45 am followed by the funeral mass at 11:00 am. Interment Private. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you consider making a donation to the Lino D. Gomes Memorial Scholarship Fund which will provide a scholarship to a civil engineering student at his alma mater, The University of Notre Dame.
