They are not dead,
Who leave us this great heritage of remembering joy.
They still live in our hearts,
In the happiness we knew, in the dreams we shared.
They still breathe,
In the lingering fragrance, windblown, from their favorite flowers.
They still smile in the moonlight’s silver,
And laugh in the sunlight’s sparking gold.
They still speak in the echoes of the words we’ve heard them say again and again.
They still move,
In the rhythm of waving grasses, in the dance of the tossing branches.
They are not dead;
Their memory is warm in our hearts, comfort in our sorrow.
They are not apart from us, but part of us,
For love is eternal,
And those we love shall be with us throughout all eternity.

Oh Uncle Pete where to start...your passing was way to soon and so unfair. You have extended your kindness and touched the lives of so many people, you will be sadly missed by all. You were always the rock in our family and kept your sisters in line. I will cherish all the wonderful memories new and old. Thank you for being the BEST brother my mother could have ever received. We love and miss you dearly! xo Melanie

Our deepest and most sincere sympathy to all of you in the passing of Dr. Pellegrino.
He was truly a wonderful physician, and friend. He treated all of us in some way over the years, but most of all his continual care for our mother, Gertie Presti, was the most significant. The last decision he directed us to for her health care, saved her life, and we were able to have her for eight more years. Now they are together in a "better place" and Gert will continue to challenge him, and he will smile and say, "it will be okay!" And it will be, because she trusted him, and
his compassion for his all his patients was unsurmountable. Rest in peace Dr.P, you leave us with fond memories. jc

My sincere condolences to the entire Pellegrino family. I worked with Dr. Pellegrino when I was a resident and then a colleague at Kessler Memorial Hospital. It was early during my residency that I learned of his passion and kindness. He always spoke to his patients as friends and spent all the time necessary to explain his treatments. He never rushed and made sure they understood everything. He would always sit on the bed as he talked to his patients. He always told me to talk to your patients at eye level and never look down on them as you speak. I still do that to this day. Small things like that go a long way and he was always good at teaching those types of things that they don't teach you in medical school. Sometimes those are the best lessons to learn. Thank you Dr. Pellegrino for your knidness and passion not only to your patients but also to your family and friends.

I am very sorry for your loss. Back in the mid-1970's I was a little girl of about 6 or 7 with terrible tonsils. Dr. Pellegrino was my doctor and the surgeon who removed them. I remember thinking at my appointments prior to the surgery that he was so nice. His demeanor was part of the reason why I was not afraid of the operation. I have always thought of him fondly for the compassion and kindness he showed toward me as his young patient. Though I moved out of the area I have never forgotten him and was saddened to hear of his passing.

The Class of 1952 is planning its 60th Reunion. Today I was told the sad news about Pete's passing. He was one of the classmates that I always wanted to see when I would go back to the reunions. Pete was a good friend during high school and a class act in our graduating class--bright, athletic, charismatic, and a great piano player. I know that he has touched many lives during his lifetime--I know, because he touched mine. Rest in Peace, Pete Pellegrino.
