Obituary
Obituary of Dr. Peter Pellegrino, M.D.
We will not be remembered by our words, but by our kind deeds. The value of life cannot be judged by the words that pass our lips, nor can it be determined by the work we do, it isn't what we do. Our Value is found in the person we become, it is who we are that matters. Dr. Peter Pellegrino, M.D. swore to preserve the purity of his life and art. His dedication to his family; friends, associates, and patients was nothing short of remarkable. Dr. Peter Pellegrino, M.D. passed away on Saturday June 30, 2012 at Virtua Hospital in Berlin. Some die without having really lived, while others continue to live in spite of the fact they have died. This great man had touched so many lives and his legacy will continue to make a difference.
Dr. Pellegrino was born on July 6, 1934 in Camden City, the son of Pete "The Barber" and Alice Pellegrino. Peter graduated as co-valedictorian from Gloucester City High School in 1952. He had a passion for education and had graduated from Franklin & Marshall College in Lancaster, PA, with honors, in 1956. With a sense of pride and determination, Peter attended and graduated from Hahnemann Medical School in Philadelphia as a General Surgeon in 1960. During medical school, Peter met Barbara Ann, who became his wife of 52 years. Together, their love blossomed a lifetime of love, fun, family, giving and dedication that only dreams are made of. The Pellegrino home had contributed to the manpower of our nation, upholding the American ideals of freedom. Dr. Pellegrino had served in the U.S. Army as Captain of the Medical Corporation practicing as a Doctor in Murnau, Germany from 1961 to 1965. Following his honorable discharge, Dr. Pellegrino began a private surgical practice in Hammonton that became an extended family of patients.
We do not remember days, we remember moments. Peter will be dearly missed by his family but they are comforted by the fabulous memories of camping, fishing, skiing, and standing around the piano singing Christmas carols while he played the keys. Dr. Pellegrino is survived by his dedicated wife Barbara Ann (nee Holden) Pellegrino. Peter is the father of Peter Scott & his wife Tammy Beswick, Kathleen Ann and Lisa Marie Pellegrino. He is the proud PopPop of of Peter Holden, Ashlee Mae, Paul Richard, Morgan Brooke, Darian Augustina, Joseph Anthony, Carson Dhayne, Bobbie-Ann Baylee, Lydia Rose, Noah Adam, Maxwell Thomas and Jonah Peter.
