Obituary of Daniel Marro

Danny Marro Jr., age 70, died peacefully on Monday, December 17th in Hammonton, NJ after a brief illness.
He was a lifelong resident of Hammonton and a graduate of Edgewood High School, class of 1967. Danny’s artistic work was well known in the area. He was an amazing artist and son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend. His artwork and signs encompass South Jersey. He wanted to learn how to paint, so he did. He wanted to learn how to fix violins, bass and violas, so he did. He wanted to learn how to engrave, so he did. That's what type of man he was, a master of all trades and never a jack of one. A well-established painter, Danny’s work can be seen on buildings all around the town of Hammonton and beyond. His artwork included DiDonato’s Bowling Alley front mural and the Magical Holiday Express, South Jersey Laundry portraits, the Coliseum in the Sons of Italy, the mural in DiMatteo’s Winery, Mary’s Cafe, Apron Café at the Hammonton Airport, and he drew the architectural design for what became the new Hammonton Municipal building. His gold leaf techniques and lettering were once seen on multiple municipal vehicles, fire engines and more.
Danny is predeceased by his parents, Daniel and Dorothy Marro; his sister, Maryann Ludovich and stepdaughter, Charlene Neumann (née Mazzeo). Danny is survived by his partner, Cathy Mazzeo and his children, Dan Marro III (Karen), ToniAnn Rutter (James), Louis Mazzeo (Denise) and Robert Mazzeo. Marro is also survived by his brother, Joseph Marro (Meri); brother-in-law, John Ludovich and cousin and friend, Dominic Marro (Dot). Marro was a grandfather to Brendan and Dalton Marro; Christian and Alexa Rutter; Erika, Amanda and Nico Mazzeo; Charles Mazzeo; Kyle and Jake Neumann; and Ashley, Francesca and Alexis Tigro. He also had a great grandchild, CJ Boyer and many nieces and nephews.
There will be a memorial service on Saturday, January 5th, at the Grace Community Church in Cedarbrook, NJ at 1pm. Donations can be made to the Hammonton Cancer Foundation.
