Obituary of Richard Kijewski
Richard Kijewski, age 79, of Waterford, NJ, passed away on Saturday January 12, 2019. Beloved husband of Anetha Kijewski. Loving father of Richard Kijewski and his wife Diane, Suzanne Cutts and her husband Glenn, and Joan Mason. Proud grandfather of Timothy, Lauren, Alyssa, Morgan, Alexandra, Thomas, and Rileigh. Dear brother of Robert Kijewksi and his wife Bonnie, and the late Louis Kijewski. He is also survived and will be sadly missed by nephews Robert and Michael, and a niece, Kerry.
After graduating from Moorestown High School in 1957, Rich spent a few years in the US Army. Shortly after completing his three-year obligation to the Army, he began working for the U.S. Postal Service in Moorestown as a letter carrier. In 1972, he became a supervisor in Moorestown and a year or so later, he was transferred to Southampton, NJ. In 1985, he spent several months as acting Postmaster of Pemberton, NJ, before becoming Postmaster of Medford in September of that year and remained at Medford until his retirement in June 2000. In 2005, Rich was asked to come back to the Postal Service to work as a mail route examiner throughout South Jersey and Delaware, which he did for three years. Rich loved retirement on his small farm, although he became frustrated with the animals that would eat a good portion of what he produced. But he never bothered them, because he said, “they were here before me.”
Richard asked that no service be held. He preferred to be remembered in the vertical, rather than the horizontal.
