Obituary of William A. Widmer Jr.

William A. Butch Widmer Jr., age 88, of Somers Point, NJ, died Thursday, October 13th at his home with family by his side. Born in Philadelphia and an Army veteran of WWII, Mr. Widmer raised his family in the Germantown section of the city. In 1966, he moved to Linfield, PA and was a plant manager at Publicker Distillery. He retired to his beloved shore home in Somers Point, NJ in 1980. Mr. Widmer, with his unfailing good humor and colorful storytelling, will be dearly missed by all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn Widmer, his daughter, Suzanne VanHorn, and his dear friend, Roberta Hetrick. He is survived by a son, William A. Widmer, III, of Evenston, IL, grandchildren Michael, Christopher, Alison, Emily and William IV, and great-grandchildren Rachael and Emma. Memorial services will be held on Tuesday, October 18th at 10:00am at The Church of the Epiphany in Royersford, PA.
