I have many memories of growing up and spending lots of time over Uncle Danny's and Aunt Dorothy's. It was always fun, and I remember going over his mother's house and trying some sambuca that they gave Doreen and me. I hate licorice today.
I pray that his family remember the happy times and how he used to make us laugh.
Love,

I have felt blessed many times in my life and perhaps at times have felt not so blessed but a few years ago I met Doug, the most amazing man who would change my life forever. Along this wonderful journey I was blessed yet once again and welcomed into the Pellegrino’s, one of the most wonderful families I have ever known. When I first met “Pop, I was so nervous and shy. I had no idea what to expect. To my surprise, he greeted me with a big smile, gave me a huge bear hug and with in seconds had me giggling and completely at ease. His sense of humor was overwhelming and his profound love for his children, his grandchildren and his family was inspiring and heartwarming. I am so grateful for the precious time that I got to spend with “Pop and his memory will remain in my heart forever. To my Dearest Douglas and Family, I am so deeply sorry for your loss. “Pop was so very special to so many people and a lot of hearts were broken the day he passed. I pray that your memories will keep you close to your Dad in spirit today and forever. All of My Love and Sincerest Condolences, Tara

I'd like to thank everyone who lit a candle to share your warm thoughts and kind words. I especially would like to extend an heartfelt Thankyou for those who made the time to comfort and care for my father and our family. I've shared 47 years of life with this man, and have seen all of his emotions. He was, without a doubt, a loving and devoted family man, right till the end. He has taught me many things, and I think some of the most valuable lessons are yet to come.
May his spirit see the most unimaginable beauty of the new worlds, and his body return to nature and come back as life...

Scotty posted a condolence
I remember back sixteen years ago when I first met dad... I was a little nervous driving up to the property with Diane meeting him for the first time. After all I had just began a relationship with his baby girl. He said "Hi Scotty how ya doing". It was like I had known him for years. He had a way of doing that with everyone.
I loved going up to Dad's cabin... he loved showing and telling you what a wonderful life he had built there for himself, and rightfully so. He was a self made man always looking for a way to improve what he had, not only for himself, but also his family. What I will miss most is every time he would see me he would greet me with a rousing "Scotty!!!"
Dad was great traveling companion too... he could really make Diane and I laugh. Grand Canyon, Sedona, Phoenix, Rome, Florence, Venice and on 9/11 Newfoundland. All made more fun by having you there with Diane. Over the years dad helped so much with things to be done here at the house. Dad could fix, build and install anything. He was a great foreman, always in charge, but always teaching. Always respectful of what you did, or in my case didn't know. What I am most thankful for Dad is how you filled a giant void in my life after my father had passed away. I cannot ever thank you enough for that. Your physical presence here on earth is sorely missed. Your spirit will live forever in heaven and especially in my heart. I will forever love you and Diane as promised.

Neil Kitrosser posted a condolence
Daniel Pellegrino was a solid American citizen: an army veteran of World War II and a sheetmetal worker for more than 35 years who helped construct major industrial cites throughout New Jersey. Even more importantly, he was a loving father and grandfather.
I got to know Mr. Pellegrino briefly over the past year, after he had been diagnosed with mesothelioma. Sadly, I saw him as his health deteriorated, but in the face of that he remained courageous and never lost his wonderful sense of humor.
He was a fine gentleman whom I was honored to get to know. I offer my heartfelt condolences to the Pellegrino family.

Dear Pelligrino family,
I'd like to share with you my condolences on the loss of Dan. I didn't get to spend a lot of time with Dan, but whenever I had the opportunity to do so, I was always touched by his youthfulness and playfulness. Being with Dan meant having fun, whether we were playing Bacci Ball or bandying comments back and forth about the best method to take down a willow tree. I feel a strong sense of gratitude and warmth knowing what a wonderful father and companion he was to those around him.
Yours Truly,

Aunt Janice posted a condolence
When I remember Dan, I see a happy man - with a smile and with a sparkle in his eyes. I, of course, always would see him when visiting with Diane and Scott. Oh, how they made his face light up. I could always see the love that bound them together as they would laugh together at earlier moments that they had shared. I can see him standing in Diane's kitchen now with that smile.
He would always refer to Scott as "Scottie" which I thought was really sweet - that was the name that we once called Scott as a youngster and I thought it showed how Dan embraced Scott as a son rather than a son-in-law. I thought that was really special and loved him for it.
When Dan got sick, I sent him a few cards to let him know I was thinking of him and wishing him well. Even though he was weak and fighting with his all, he took the time and energey he had to give me a call to thank me. We had a very pleasant conversation for actually a long time - probably about 45 minutes. We talked about the treatment - how he was doing; our kids; our grandkids and the 4 wheelers and how much fun he had with the grandsons riding them; the trips that he, Diane and "Scottie" had shared. It was a wonderful conversation. It was so evident that he loved his family and the life that he had made with them.
I will miss this sweet man with his smiling face and friendly way and will always remember the pleasant times we had together.
I wish I could ease the pain and void that Dan's family is feeling. I know he was the best of dads and dad-in-law and a wonderful and loving granddad. He was an stellar example of a strong yet sweet, loving and giving man. He has left behind loving memories of giving of himself...priceless gifts to cherish and embrace.
Much love to all.
