Age 81 yrs., born September 17, 1924 in Atlantic City, NJ to Harry and Cecilia Miller.
A World War II veteran, a devoted husband, a proud and loving father, passed away April 12, 2006, of natural causes.

Jack lived in the Atlantic City area throughout his childhood. Soon after graduating high school and working at the family owned business, Rogal Millers Bakery in Atlantic City, he joined the US Navy at 17. He was flying combat missions at 18, after training and squadron assignment. He flew as a combat crewman, plane captain with Bombing 139-A Unit of Fleet AirWing 4 out of the Aleutian Islands into Japan. His squadron was known as Bombing Squadron 139, Fleet AirWing 4, Empire Express. His missions started in October 1943, and included low level bombing, night photography reconnaissance and raids on Japanese military ships. On New Years Eve 1943, his plane crash landed on the frozen island of Agatha, 30 miles west of Attu. It took the US Navy two days to get him off the island by sea going tug boat because of the weather conditions. He was awarded the Air Service Medal with three gold stars.
Upon his discharge in December 1945, he returned to Newark, NJ. He met Selda Lipshultz, of Newark, NJ and they were married April 4, 1946. They settled down in Livingston, NJ, where he worked as a sheet metal fabricator and grocery stocker. In 1953, he started his own food vending machine and industrial catering business called Coin Service Company, also in Livingston, NJ. He sold the business in the mid-eighties, and retired for the first time. He went back to work for the Tropicana Casino as a casino gaming machine mechanic. His wife Selda passed away on June 4, 1998, after 52 years of marriage. He retired from the Tropicana in 2000, and spent many years serving on the Board of Directors of his Atlantic Ocean front building and cruising around the world, enjoying life with his family and friends. He was also an avid handball player his entire life.
