Obituary of Katie E. Sullivan

Katie E. Sullivan Age 69, of Millbridge Apartments in Clementon N.J., died Saturday, May 28, 2005. Mrs. Sullivan was born in Philadelphia, PA on November 21, 1935. She attended Vaulx High School in Philadelphia, PA. She later went on to graduate from the Philadelphia Board of Education Practical Nursing Program and became a Licenced Practical Nurse. She retired from Ancora Psychiatric Hospital in 1999, where she had enthusiastically contributed to various behavior modification programs. In 1982, she was honored as the Employee of the Year and in November of 1988, the Employee of the month. She was extremely involved in her community and supportive of her childrens activities. Her easy wit, compassion for others and warm smile will always be remembered by those who knew her. She was married to James Sullivan, Sr. for 27 years, of which they parented 5 children. She moved to NJ in 1966. She was a member of Grant AME Church of Chesilhurst for many years. During her life, Mrs. Sullivan served as the President of the Chesilhurst School Board. She served as an usher and as a Senior Stewardess at Grant AME Church. She served as the treasurer of the Edgewood Regional High School Band Boosters. Mrs Sullivan was the daughter of the late James Brock and Ida C. Corbin. Mrs Sullivan is survived by her mother Ida C. Corbin, her daughters Yvonne Crowe-Morse and her husband Dr. Gene of Brookhaven, PA., Karol Ball and her husband Steven of Atlantic City, NJ, Lisa Burton of North Cape May, NJ and her sons James Sullivan, Jr., and his fiance, Maria Massallo and Jeffrey Sullivan. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Ira Crowe and his wife Nicole, Maliaka Crowe, Stephan Ball, Cameron Ball, Chate' Sullivan, Frezel Burton III, Jazzmen Burton, Crystal Massallo, Sasha Massallo, James Sullivan III, Ja-Mez Sullivan, Semas Sullivan, Arron Gibons, Anthony Sullivan and her former son in laws, Jim Crowe and Frezel Burton, II. She is also survived by her soul mate, companion, and personal best friend Mr. Luther Armstrong and his three children Synthia Jones, Darren Armstrong, and Rory Armstrong, as well as her dear friends, Mrs. Rose Salsbury, Mrs. Marianne Murry, Mrs. Vivian Johnson and a host of cousins, in-laws and friends. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her viewing on Friday June 3, 2005, 7pm to 9pm at the LeRoy P. Wooster Funeral Home, 441 White Horse Pike, Atco, NJ. (856)767-0539.
