Obituary of James M. “Smitty� Smith

James M. Smith, the son of the late Evelyn and Thomas J. Smith, Sr,. was born on March 22, 1936 in Baltimore, Maryland. He received his education in the Baltimore City Public School System. Smitty, what he was affectionately called, later married Martha E. Minor and during that union of marriage, they had nine children. Smitty and Martha divorced. He later moved to New Jersey where he married Catherine Lee. Smitty loved life, most of all driving his truck on the road. He leaves to mourn his wife Lee, 9 children; James, William, Franklin, Gregory, Michael, Don, Kevin, Evelyn and Tammy, two sisters; Evelyn Froneberger and Lavera Smith, two brothers; Thomas T. Smith and John H. Smith, one son in-law; Hassim, 3 daughters-in-law; Stephanie, Joanne and Lena, 13 Grandchildren, 5 Great-Grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives as well as a devoted friend, Nadine. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his viewing on Thursday evening from 6:00pm to 7:00pm at the LeRoy P. Wooster Funeral Home, 441 White Horse Pike, Atco (856) 767-0539. Services will begin at 7:00pm. Interment will be held privately at the convenience of the family.
