Mike,
14 years ago i met you in kindergarten because we had the same cookies. We became friends immediately and remained best friends for years after. Lookin back on home movies you were always sitting right next to me at birthday parties and that is the way it was all the time. I had more fun with you than i did with any friend i ever had. Now thinkin of all the good times i cant be upset i just laugh because that is what you did best...you made people laugh. There are just too many memories to go into right now because I would be writing all night. I should have hung out more in Atco as i grew older because i would have been hangin out with you more. However, no matter how long it would have been since we seen each other you would always make time to talk to me no matter where u were, who u were with, or what you were doing. I respected you and always knew how special of a person you were. You were one of the biggest parts of my childhood and i thank you for making growin up in Atco that much better for me. I wouldnt trade your friendship for the world. I just hope you knew that no matter what i was always here for you whatever you needed. NOw fourteen years later im crying inside every day knowing i cant call you on ur birthday and u meet me half way to come over and hang out or go back to lady's lake and get mudy off road with the trike. I'll miss you Mike and never forget you and our friendship for as long as i live. You touched so many lives, more than i could ever count and mine was one of them. I'll miss you Mike and I'll pray to you every night. Rest in peace and keep livin it up in heaven.

Dear Dawn
I have known you since you and Maria were kids. You have always been such a nice person and(as Maria has often told me)a devoted, caring, and loving mother to your lovely children. I can't ease the pain for you, Chick, Erin, and Kaitlin, but I feel such deep sadness for your loss. Although I'd never met Michael, from all of the letters on this website and from what Maria has told me, he must have been a very special guy. Dawn, he's the picture of you, and I know that he was that
special kind of person because of the love, support, and guidance that he received from you and Chick. Who can understand God's plan? The loss of a child is so painful that we can only implore "why"??? Maybe he needed Michael by his side to do his work in heaven. I just want you to know that both Gloria and I have been thinking and praying for you and your family. Michael will watch over you.
I do believe in these things.
Love and God bless you

To the Schafer family we would just like to give our deepest condolences. Mike you and I were always good friends, and last year in high school when our lockers were next to each other and we sat next to each other in homeroom, the friendship just got better. You are without a doubt the nicest, kindest person that I have ever met in my life. To add to that also the funniest. Remember the picture of my sister, Ace, and just a small little hug? I sure hope you do, because I will always remember those moments. Watch over us ALL and guide us to meet up with you again buddy. RIP MIKE.</b></font><br><br>

Where to begin ? Well, I met Mike on a New Years Eve and then got to know him a lot better later on. I could sit here and start nameing every good quality about him but there isn't enough space nor time. We had a lot of great times together. From Appollo, to all the concerts we went to, the sixer's playoff games, lifting at the gym, sitting at your or my house and just talking about dumb things. He is one of the greatest people i know. Mike would go out of his to do anything for you, even if it was just to make you smile cause he knew you were having a rough day. You could always count on Mike and that was one of the things I loved most about him. I could sit here for weeks and try and think of one thing about Mike that I didn't like and not come up with one thing. You couldn't not love the kid he was great and will truley be missed. But the memories that you gave me will never be forgotten. I AM so LUCK to have a best friend like Mike. R.I.P. MY MICHAEL and don't worry I will be there every chance I get to come visit and tell you everything that has been going on in my life. I am going to miss you more than people will ever know. Mike I love you with all my heart and I want to thank you for everything you have done for me and taught me and for all the special memories you have given me that will never once be forgotten. But most of all I want to thank you and the lord for you coming into my life and being one of my best friends. I love and will miss you with all my heart. "IT WASN'T ME"</b></font><br><br>

Mike, I'm so proud to say you were a part of my family. I'm so moved by how many lives you've actually touched. I'm glad I was able to grow up with you and the rest of my little cousins. Being the oldest it's really hard for me to have to see one of you go before me, especially at such a young age, but I know God wanted you for some reason, maybe to help steer the rest of us in the right direction. You were always considerate of others and you always had a smile, even if it was a mischeivious one like you were up to something! I'll never forget all of our time spent together, playing down the lake, holiday parties at Mom-mom's, like Halloween and bobbing for apples - I remember you were the first one to get an apple out of the bucket! And of course the Easter Egg hunts. I'm so thankful that we were all able to get together this Easter and see eachother. I will always remember you and pray to you. Please watch over my brother Kevin, I know you cared about him and you were always good to him! Rest in peace Mike! I love you!</b></font><br><br>

What can I say except for everyone misses you so much. Its been a little over a month but not a day goes by that we dont think about you. I wanted to say thank you, thank for being my friend and thank you for always reminding me that life is awesome. I saw your dad recently, I couldnt help but run up to him and give him a great big hug. One because hes a good man but two because your family is the closest thing we have to you. I know you look down at all of us everyday smiling not believing that everyone loves you so much. Everyday when I go outside and I look up into the clear sky I know you are looking at back at me. I love you man and I will for the rest of my life. You will always be one of the "boys". Keep looking out for all of us. We'll meet up again but until that day I'm always thinking of you!!</b></font><br><br>

Mike,
I just wanted to tell you that I think about you everyday. And I miss you and your smile more than you'll ever know. Sometimes it doesnt feel real and other times it feels so real that I cant breathe. But when I think of you I can only smile because that is what you always had us doing. We'd smile, laugh, we just had a good time. Thinking about what you have taught me, the thing that comes to mind is to give the people you love the time they deserve and take those extra couple minutes to let them know how much you love them. That is something that you were great at. And this is what I will forever take with me. So Michael I dont think that its too late to say I love you, the waterford boys are like brothers to me and every single one of you I love the same. Watch over us and we'll see you at the gates. I LOVE YOU MICHAEL SCHAFER!</b></font><br><br>

Mike, where could I ever begin. You lived an amazing life and I'll start with saying that You were like an older brother to me. Always kept Your hand on my shoulder and knew exactly what to say to make me feel better in depressing situations (my guide and role model in life). You were a remarkable person and I looked up to You for everything.
Also, the both of us used to go on about all of the memories we shared. We had our little inside jokes for everything. All thanks to the years we bonded with one another. You made me a better person and made me feel socially comfortable with an envirionment of complete strangers that You knew. You never left me out of your circle. And to have the honor of calling you my best friend made me feel like i was on top of the world I was always so proud to be Your best friend.
It's tragic that this had to happen to You. However, I know You are still there for me no matter what. I can still talk to You whenever I need to. Now, I cherish every picture in my mind that colors Your beautiful face. And I hold so dearly Your words, Your spirits, Your love, Your loyalty, and most importantly Our Friendship. You always knew how to make me smile Mike. To everyone, You are a hero, a legend, and a God's gift to have been worthy to exchange moments with You. Everybody loves You Mike and we promise to make a postive outcome from now on.</b></font><br><br>

Michael-
Well, it's been 2 months. And not one day has gone by that I did not think about you and your family. I know that I didn't know you very well, but I know that you meant so much to my little brother. It hurts more than anything in the world to watch him suffer. He was so lucky to have you in his life. People wait their entire lives for a friend like you. I am so happy that he did not take what he had for granted. Him and I have been through so much in the past few years, and you were always someone he could turn to. It's comforting to know that even though you are not here physically, I know that you are here spiritually, listening to him as you did in life, and watching over him, keeping him safe. Thank you so much from the bottom of my heart for everything that you have done, and will continue to do, for him. We all miss your crazy antics and heartwarming smile. But we know that you are in our hearts, and always will be. Love you and miss you, Michael!!</b></font><br><br>
