Obituary of Ann B. Humphry

Ann B. Humphry age 76, of Atco, NJ, died on August 29 from complications of a stroke. Born in Dayton, OH on April 30, 1929, she was the daughter of the late George and Glenna (Millard) Burrer. She graduated from Northfield School for Girls in Northfield, MA and later attended the University of Massachusetts in Amherst, where she met her husband, Peter, whom she married on October 13, 1950. After living in Western Massachusetts for some years, the couple moved to Rockville, CT, where they raised their four daughters. There, she and her husband were active in local politics and ran a thriving real estate business. In 1977, she and her husband moved to Sarasota, FL, where they ran a busy real estate investment business, and she also became an enthusiastic member of Florida Real Estate Exchange as well as various investment barter clubs. She and her husband traveled widely, visiting Israel, China, Egypt, Thailand, Russia and many European and Central American countries. Some of her more interesting business ventures included running a chicken farm, traveling across the Eastern United States with her husband to do advance work for a traveling circus, and participating in barter clubs. Her proudest accomplishment was her family. She is survived by her beloved husband of nearly 55 years, Peter, of Atco, NJ; her brother Robert M. Burrer, of Bradenton, FL; and the lights of her life, her four daughters: Catherine (Stephen) Avery of Annapolis, MD; Sara (Peter) Lanciano of Milford, MA; Melinda (William) Becker of Washington, DC; and Priscilla (Robert) Hagerty of Moorestown, NJ. She is also survived by eight much-loved grandchildren: Matthew Grim of Los Angeles, CA; Luke, Gabriel and Samuel Lanciano of Milford, MA; Nora and Maxwell Becker of Washington, DC; and Jack and Dylan Hagerty of Moorestown, NJ. A memorial service is planned for Saturday, Sept. 3 at 3:30 pm at The Fountains of Cedar Parke in Atco, NJ. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you call your mother or send her a prayer. Memorial donations in her honor may be directed to the attention of Sherry Sturges at The Fountains at Cedar Parke, 114 Hayes Mill Rd., Atco, NJ 08004.
