Obituary of John K. Dunka
John Skip Dunka
Born in Leesburg, PA on Aug. 5, 1945 to Luis and Julia Dunka. He grew up in Morrisville, PA. He graduated from Rider College with a BA in History/Political Science. He attended the Woodrow Wilson School for International Affairs at Princeton University.
Upon his graduation he went on to a career with New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection. During his tenure with this organization, Dunka Co. developed the NJ Water Treatment Plan. Skip later went on to develop his own consulting firm of the Westwater and Dunka Environmental Consultants. After leaving the public sector, he went on to develop his own landscape company, Mulch It in Langhorne, PA. Upon retiring, Skip remained active in landscaping and garden design, with clients in Southern NJ, Long Beach Island, Radnor, and Philadelphia.
A nature lover and environmental advocate, Skip devoted many hours to life in the outdoors and enjoyed his last 7 years living on the Mullica River in Sweetwater, NJ. He was a mentor and friend to many from all over the world who will miss his kindness, generosity, integrity, and his wonderful sense of humor.
He is survived by his fiance, Sheryl Hopp of Sweetwater, NJ, his nephew Anthony Dunka of Penns Creek, PA and his niece Ashley Buonanno-Dunka of Los Angeles, CA who will forever hold him dear in their hearts and minds.
A celebration of his life will be held Saturday, November 10, 2007 beginning at 1:00pm at his home, 5010 Pleasant Mills Road in Sweetwater, NJ.
