Tabitha Thomas In memory of our mother, Tabitha Thomas, born Tabitha Leigh Brown, on March 27th, 1922, to George and Betty Drye Brown of Council, North Carolina. Moms early education began in East Arcadia, North Carolina. From there she attended and graduated from Fayetteville State Teachers College in Fayetteville, North Carolina. Children always had a special place in her heart. A dedicated teacher, Mom taught at the Walton Elementary School in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, alongside her beloved sister, Lucy Mason, for over 2 4 years. The majority of her teaching career was spent as a third grade teacher. Before retirement around 1985, she became the Math Resource teacher at her school, assisting and instructing other teachers. Prior to teaching, she worked as a nurses assistant in Childrens Hospitalof Philadelphia. It was there, she met and married our Dad, Edward Thomas, in 1945. Their union produced three children, Gwendolyn, Edward and Cheryl. Mom was from a large family of eight siblings and believed in family and family values. She whole-heartedly felt that family should care, share and be united. That was how she was raised and lived her life. Mom was a loving mother, adored by her children, and highly esteemed and respected by her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She will always be fondly remembered for her quiet spirit, unforgettable laugh, love of sweet potatoes, great fashion sense, and love of family. Affectionally known as Bike, Bitha, or Aunt Bike to those closest to her, she leaves behind three children :Gwendolyn Davis of Blackwood, N.J., Edward Thomas of Blackwood N.J., Cheryl Thomas of W. Hartford, Connecticut: three grandchildren, Cecil Davis (Alvenia)of King of Prussia, Pa., Kemberly Davis-Rozycki (Michael) of Blackwood, N.J., Sean Davis of Blackwood, NJ: three great grandchildren: Tyler, Trent and Trace Davis-Rozycki; four sisters; Lucy Mason of Phila. Pa., Ruby McAllister of Durham N.C., Betty Clark of Durham N.C. and Revenda Ross of Riegelwood, N.C.; three brothers; George Brown Jr. (Pauline) of Topsail Beach, N.C., Dewey Brown of Raleigh N.C., Ezekiel Brown of Durham, NC; Sister-in-law, Marva Brown,and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. Friends and relatives are invited to attend Tabithas viewing on Saturday October 20, 2007 at 1pm and a service beginning at 2pm at Carvers Creek Church, 210 Carvers Creek Rd. Council, N.C. 28434.
