Andrew remembers when Danny first came out and said he was going to play center, he said he lauged and said that no one that skinny could play center. But Danny proved everybody wrong. Mr and Mrs Iannaco,
I can't begin to tell you how sorry I am to hear about Dan. Having only coached him for one year and having him in my class I developed a great bond with him. I will never forget seeing him for the first time and him telling me he was the center and my thinking"we are in big trouble". Looks are deceiving though. He turned out to be a warrior. He is without a doubt one of the toughest kids I ever coached. He was always respectful and he was a leader. He played tough, when he was hurt and always led by example first. I knew the type of leader he was when he blew away the captian voting in camp his senior year. As a parent myself, I can't imagine what you are going through right now and my thoughts and prayers are with Dan and your family. The Nick Brandemarti Award was meant to be a special award and Dan deserved it. I hope Nick and Dan are together somewhere right now. If there is anything I can ever do for you, don't hesitate to contact me.

To Danny's family:
I was devastated to hear of Danny's death this morning. I cannot imagine the grief you all must be feeling. The only words of sympathy that I can think to offer sound trite and cliché.
All my memories of Dan make me smile: Dan at the Mullen Talent Show playing his guitar; Dan cracking all of us up at drum line...
Dan always had a smile on his face and put smiles on the faces of everyone around him.
I am sure that your memories of him are even brighter than mine. Please know that I am thinking of all of you, and Dan, today.
Love, Aria

Dear Mr. and Mrs. Iannaco,
I was Dan's fourth grade teacher and will always remember his wonderful smile and personality. The fact that it was 15 years ago when I taught him, but can still remember his great sense of humor as if I just spoke with him yesterday tells you something about the impact that he had on people. Please accept my deepest sympathy for your loss. I will always remember Dan, and please know that he taught me so much about teaching during my first year! What a great kid!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Jodi Civitarese (Miss Lambert)
