Obituary of Thomas J. Burke

Thomas J. Burke Age 78 yrs. Went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, March 2nd, 2008. Originally from Laurel Springs, Tom passed away in his sleep, next to his wife, Maria and surrounded by his loving family in his daughters home in Blue Anchor. Tom fought a courageous battle with Mesothelioma, while continuing to be dedicated to the care of his loving wife. Born in Phila, Pa, he was the eldest son to Thomas and Anna Burke (Bozzie). He is predeceased by his brothers, Robert and Michael, and grandson James Beck. Tom was a loving family man who worked for over 47 years on the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad, presently the Chessie System. He also served in the Navy aboard the USS. Midway, and was a member of the American Legion Post in Chews Landing. Tom was very dedicated to his religion and served as an usher at St Agnes Church in Blackwood for over 25 years. He also spent many years enjoying his summer home in Fortesque, NJ. Tom is survived by his wife of over 50 years Maria T. ( Walsh) and 7 dedicated children: Frank Beck (Sellersville, Pa), Marie Beck (Perkasie, Pa), Ann Senkow (Mike) of Pennsburg, Pa, James Beck (Cindy) of Aurora, Colorado, Carol Persicketti (Robert) of Voorhees, NJ, Anna Marino (Steve) of Blue Anchor, NJ and Maureen Rhubart(Walt Kunkle) of Port Norris, NJ. Tom had 19 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his viewing on Wednesday, March 5th from 7-9pm and again Thursday morning from 9:15 to 10:15 at LeRoy P. Wooster Funeral Home, 441 White Horse Pike, Atco, NJ. (856)767-0539. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11am at St Anthonys RC Church, Pennington Ave, Waterford, NJ. Interment, Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Berlin NJ.
