Obituary of Matilda Christian

Matilda Christian Matilda Elizabeth Fletcher was born October 24, 1935 in Swainsboro, Georgia. She was the oldest of 2 children, born to Sally Smith. She was educated in the Georgia School District and later received her GED in Philadelphia, PA. Matilda furthered her education and received her operators license for a Beauty Shop in 1958. On December 31, 1961, she married Charles Christian and remained married for 46 years until her death. In 1962, she opened her own Beauty Salon and successfully operated it for 32 years. In Matildas many years as a hair stylist, she acquired many friends and associates who will sadly miss her. Matilda Christian made a good name for herself, with her friends, neighbors, relatives and anyone she contacted. Most importantly, she made a good name with her God, Jehovah. Eccl.7:1. Some of the Spiritual highlights of Sister Christians life are as follows: At almost 30 years of age, she was baptized on August 19, 1965. She was always an active Christian never missing from her meetings or out in service, but she wanted to do even more. On April 1, 1984, she enrolled to become a regular pioneer, spending at least 70 hours a month in volunteer work, which included preaching and teaching the good news of Gods kingdom throughout the community. She developed into a wonderful teacher, and aided many people into the truth. Despite many physical ailments, including battling cancer, nothing stopped her! She was a strong, hardworking, zealous Christian all her life and was known and loved for it. She will be remembered and rewarded for it by God. Hebrews 6:10. Sister Christians hope was in the bibles promise of a resurrection, where she will be reunited with her family and friends who will miss her and love her so much. Matilda leaves to cherish her memory: her husband, Charles Christian; three children, Robert, Angelo, and Mitchell; brother, Woodrow; nephew, Shawn; three grandchildren, Angelo, Jr., Kendall, and Dillon; daughters-in-law, Sharon, Denise, and Joyelle and a host of other relatives and friends.
