Obituary of Barbara M. Groves

Barbara M. Groves (nee Whitman) of Blue Anchor, NJ on July 11, 2008 died at home with two of her children by her side, Lee and Laurel. She was 67years old. Born in W. Brookfield, MA, she was the daughter of Charles L. and Isabel A. Whitman. During her time in Massachusetts she also lived in Warren and Ware before moving to NJ in the 1960s. She leaves three sons, Christopher P. Berthiaume of Pine Hill, NJ, Sean T. Berthiaume of Leroy, WV, Lee J. Groves of Blue Anchor, and one daughter, Laurel J. Groves of Blue Anchor. Dear sister of Elwin H. Whitman of Oakham, MA, Charles L. Whitman of W. Brookfield, Walter L. Whitman of Helena, MT, Shirley A. Wilk of Thorndike, MA, Ruth M. Lyon of W. Brookfield, and Claudia L. Kenady of Orange, CA. Proud grandmother of Christian Berthiaume. She will also be missed by her ex-husband, Gerald A.Groves, and several nieces and nephews. She was also predeceased by her ex-husband, Paul Berthiaume. Barbara was a graduate of Warren High School and worked in area businesses prior to her move to NJ. She had been employed as an absentee ballot technician for the Camden County Board of Elections until her recent retirement. She was a talented poet and singer, an omnivorous reader, and a creative gardener and cook. She will be remembered as a caring friend, loving mother, and loyal and loving sister and aunt. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her viewing on Thursday, July 17th from 11:00am to12:00pm at the LeRoy P. Wooster Funeral Home, 441 White Horse Pike, Atco, NJ 08004 (856) 767-0539. Services will begin at 12:00pm. Interment will follow at Colestown Cemetery in Cherry Hill, NJ.
