Obituary of Marilyn D.W. Beard

Marilyn D.W. Beard Of Atco, NJ passed away on July 31, 2008, following a short stay at the hospital. Mrs. Beard was born in Boston, MA, where she attended Boston University. She later earned her B.A. in English from Temple University and a Master's in Library Science from Drexel University. Mrs. Beard served as an elementary school librarian in the Lower Merion School District in PA where she inspired a love of books in many children. She loved hiking and music, and worked tirelessly for animal welfare, world peace, and environmental causes. In recent years she served as a member of the Waterford Twp. Environmental Commission. A loving and generous person and a devoted wife and mother, she will be missed by her husband of 60 years, Richard Beard; daughters Adrienne Reim of Somerdale, NJ and her husband Frank; Amy Wilburn of Wilmington, DE and her husband Bruce; Beverly Suarez-Beard of Wilmington, DE and her husband John; two grand-daughters, Maria Wilburn and Laura Wilburn of Wilmington, DE; a grandson, Alexander Suarez-Beard of Wilmington, DE; and numerous nephews, nieces, and friends. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her visitation on August 17th from 2:00pm to 4:00pm at the LeRoy P. Wooster Funeral Home, 441 White Horse Pike, Atco, NJ. A memorial service will begin at 4:00 pm. Interment will be held privately. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to the Waterford Twp. Public Library Marilyn D.W. Beard Memorial Fund, 2204 Atco Ave., Atco NJ 08004.
