Obituary of Edith I. Faris
Edith I. Faris
(nee Kohn), passed away peacefully at her home, surrounded by her loving family on Sept. 18. She was born in Berlin, Germany and escaped the terror of Nazi Germany at the age of 11. She lived for 11 years in Shanghai, China. There she met her husband James, who was serving in the US army. She came to the United States in 1948 where she raised her family. She is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, James Faris of Atco, son Steven Faris of Atco, daughter Janet Faris of EHT and daughter Holly Faris of Sicklerville. She is also survived by her sister, Betty Grebenschikoff of Ventnor, numerous nieces and nephews, seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. She is predeceased by her son David Faris and her parents, Max and Olga Kohn.
Edith was a true patriot who loved her adoptive country. She was a long standing member of Temple Beth El in Hammonton. Although many did not know her by name, she was recognized as the Atco-Ivystone Bike Lady. Her hobbies included knitting, crocheting, gardening, bike riding and long walks on the beach. She was very active and loved the outdoors. She enjoyed preparing meals for her family and having them around her on special occasions.
Funeral services will be conducted precisely at 1:00pm Sunday September 21st. at the LeRoy P. Wooster Funeral Home, 441 White Horse Pike, Atco, NJ (856)767-0539
