Obituary of Charles M. Christian

Charles M. Christian Charles M. Christian, was born February 16, 1937 in Thomasville, Alabama. He departed this life October 8th 2008 at the Veterans Hospital in Philadelphia Pa. He was the 11th of thirteen children born to the Late Virgileane Davis-Christian and John E. Christian, Sr. Charles graduated from Thomasville Public School in 1954. Charles enlisted in the Army after high school and he was honorably discharged in 1957. After the service, Charles moved to Detroit to live with his brother for a year before moving to Philadelphia. On December 31, 1961, he married Matilda Fletcher and remained married for 46 years until her recent death. At an early age Charles accepted Christ as his Savior and was baptized by Revered Shaw in Thomasville, Alabama. He had a warm spirit and always greeted people with a smile. His personality and charm will be missed tremendously. During his career, he worked several years in the shipping and receiving industry along with being an owner/operator in the air freight business. He enjoyed the work he was involved in and even after retirement, he continued to work in the air freight business on a part-time basis. Charles was affectionately known as Charlie, and leaves to cherish his memory; three children, Robert, Angelo, and Mitchell; brother, Lemar Christian; sister, Virgie Medley; brother-in-law, Woodrow; three grandchildren, Angelo, Jr., Kendall, and Dillon; daughters-in-law, Sharon, Denise, and Joelle and a host of Nieces, Nephews and Friends.
