Obituary of John H. Coppinger

John H. Coppinger On November 3, 2008 of Lindenwold, NJ, age 65yrs. Beloved husband of Patricia L. (nee Shelton) for 36yrs. Devoted father of Tricia L. Holmes and her husband Andrew P. of Washington Twp. and Tammy L. Lawler and her husband Lawrence of Lindenwold. Dear brother of Marie Mazziotta, Cathleen Shuda, Michael Coppinger, Timothy Coppinger, Frances Cash, Margaret Murphy, Deborah Schick, Christine Kober and the Late Jacqueline Coppinger. Proud grandfather of Riley Holmes and Mackenzie and Madison Lawler. He is also survived by his dear cousin Charles Hull, as well as many other nieces, nephews and cousins. John served his country in the US Navy for 10yrs. He retired from his job at Bell-Atlantic Telephone Co. (now known as Verizon) after working many years in various areas of the company. John was very active in his community, serving as a Lifetime Member of the Lindenwold Vol. Fire Co., member of the Camden Co. Fire Police, and past-member of the Lindenwold Ambulance Squad. He was also a member of the Laurel Masonic Lodge No. 237, as well as sponsoring his wife as a Past-Patron of the Fairview Chapter of the Eastern Star. John loved his church family as well and was a regular attendee of Atco United Methodist Church. John suffered from Interstitial Pulmonary Fibrosis for the past 6yrs. He willingly participated in experimental clinical trials that have enabled many researchers, physicians and students to learn much more about the disease. While John may have lost his fight, his selfless efforts may help to cure other people suffering from this lung disease in the future. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his viewing on Friday evening from 7pm to 9pm at the LeRoy P. Wooster Funeral Home, 441 White Horse Pike, Atco (856)767-0539. A second viewing will be held on Saturday from 10am to 11am at the Atco UM Church, 2128 Atco Ave., Atco, NJ 08004. Funeral services will begin at 11am. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in memory of John may be sent to the Lindenwold Fire Dept., 4th & Scott Aves., Lindenwold, NJ 08021 or to Atco UM Church at the address above.
