Obituary of Anthony Lorraine

Anthony A. Lorraine, 87, of Williamstown, passed away peacefully at home on May 21, 2014. Beloved husband of 42 years of Nancy (nee Higginbotham); Devoted father of Caroline, Victor, Anthony and Abby (Matt); Loving grandfather of Robert (Cynthia), Mark (Kimberly), Paul, Janine (Glenn), Martin, Victor, Vito, Christy and Vincent and great grandfather of 6. Dear brother of Nina and the late Caroline; also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. Tony served as an expert rifleman in the US Army during World War II, where he received the Bronze Star as a Platoon Runner under fire. Mr. Lorraine served in Germany in the 253rd Infantry Regiment, Private 1st Class, 1st Rifle Battalion "C" Company, 1st Platoon. Discharged from the reserves in 1953 as a Sergeant 1st Class, Tony was a 54 year member of the American Legion and VFW. Mr. Lorraine worked at Joseph Hoovers and Sons for 42 years as a Positive/Negative Retouch Artist. He was also a member of the Woodland String Band and enjoyed woodworking and bowling in his spare time. Relatives and friends are invited to the viewing on Thursday, May 29, 2014 at the LeRoy P. Wooster Funeral Home & Crematory, 441 White Horse Pike in Atco. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12 noon at Our Lady Of Peace Parish, Carroll Ave. & Main St. in Williamstown. Interment will follow at the Gloucester County Veteran Cemetery.
