Obituary of Louis J. Altomare

Louis J. Altomare, 90, of Cedar Brook passed away on Sunday, May 24, 2015. The son of the late, Francesco and Maria Altomare, he was born in Camden, NJ. Louis grew up in both Camden and Philadelphia Pa, where he graduated from the Automotive Trade Institute of Philadelphia in 1949. He worked as a baker in South Philadelphia and later at the Rohm and Haas Chemical Plant in Bristol, Pa. where he retired from in 1987. Louis served his country during WWII in the US Army. He was also a member of Sacred Heart Church in Cedar Brook for many years. He will be remembered for his love of family get togethers, classic cars and day trips to the casinos in AC. He was the husband of the late, Frances Altomare (nee Anastasi), Louis is survived by his children, Frank (John) Altomare, Kathleen Peters, Rosemary Altomare, his grandchildren, Megan Shendock, Richard Cornish, his great-grandchildren, Mikaela Shendock, Mia Shendock, Kaeli Puopolo, his sisters, Antoinette DiRienzi and Helen Coe. Louis was predeceased by his grandson, Jason Peters, and siblings, Richard Altomare, Matilda Luci, Anna Tonnelli, and Valerie D'Intino. Relatives and friends are invited to the visitation and funeral on Monday, June 1, 2015 from 10 to 11 AM at the Christ the Redeemer Parish, Sacred Heart Church, 250 S. Rt. 73, Cedar Brook, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 AM. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Honor Flight, Inc.
