Obituary of Doris B Read

Doris B. Read (nee Bove) passed away peacefully at home on January 29, 2016. She was born in Brooklyn, NY on Feb 8, 1934. She lived her entire life in Winslow Twp., NJ. She was predeceased by her husband of 43 years, Farra L. (Jerry) Read, Jr. After she graduated high school she attended Pierce Business School graduating in 1954 with a secretarial degree. The next 36 years were spent working for the Federal Government in South Philadelphia in various secretarial positions and she retired in June 1989. She is survived by her brother, Albert A. Bove of Mt. Laurel, NJ and her sister, June B. Nelson (Charles) of Haddon Township, NJ. She is also survived by three step children, Farra L. Read, III of Lakewood, WA, Charles K. (Julie) Read of Sherman Oaks, Ca and Kara (Mark) Spangler of Sacramento, CA, 11 nieces and nephews and five grandchildren and one great grandchild. Doris is also predeceased by sister, Rosemarie Raubertas, brother-in-law Valentine P. Raubertas and sister-in-law Mary Bove. Mrs. Read was a lifelong member of Sacred Heart Roman Catholic church in Cedar Brook where she served as a lector and Eucharistic minister. Doris was a charter member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the NJ Society of the Sons of the American Revolution where she held their first secretarial position. Doris and her husband were members of the Holiday Rambler Motorhome club where they traveled to various states including Canada to attend various state rallies. Doris had many hobbies including music, sewing and needle work. Relative and friends are invited to her viewing on Friday, February 5, 2016 from 7:00pm to 9:00pm and again Saturday Morning 8:45am to 9:45am at the LeRoy P. Wooster Funeral Home & Crematory, 441 White Horse Pike in Atco. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday at 10:30am at Christ the Redeemer Parish/Sacred Heart Church, Rte. 73, Cedar Brook, NJ. Interment will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery.
