Obituary of Frederick LeRoy Wilson
Frederick LeRoy "Rick" Wilson, of Waterford, NJ passed away at the age of 60 on Friday, June 18, 2010 at Virtua Hospital, Voorhees, NJ after a two-year battle with cancer. Born to Fritz and Freda Wilson of Cape May, NJ. Rick graduated from the class of 1967 of Wildwood Catholic High School, Wildwood, NJ before attending Peabody Conservatory, in Baltimore, Maryland majoring in guitar. He served the U.S. Navy Reserves from 1969 to 1975.
Rick was well known in the tri-state area in the '70's and '80's as a talented, multi-instrumental musician, performing with notable bands as The MacLean Affair and Powerhouse, before becoming a solo artist. He was the first to record back tracks to be played over for live performances. It was the beginning of a revolution in live performances. In the 90's he became an universal, certified HVAC engineer, working at pharmacuetical companies calibrating enviromental chamber equipment.
Rick is survived by his mother, Freda Wilson (nee Bevis) of Cape May, NJ; his wife of 33 years, Barbara Wilson (nee Daly) of Waterford, NJ; and two daughters, Corinne Wilson of Vineland, NJ and Deidre Moxley of Vienna, OH.
Cremation arrangements were handled by the LeRoy P. Wooster Funeral Home in Atco, NJ. His family will be holding a "celebration of his life" on July 4th. Anyone wishing to send cards of condolence, flowers, etc, or who would like to attend the memorial, please call 856-691-8017.
