Obituary of Shirley A Hattrick

Shirley Ann Hattrick, nee Earl, 88, of Cedar Brook, most recently of Voorhees Center Genesis Elder Care. Passed away on April 28, 2016. Beloved wife of the late John "Ancora John". Devoted mother of Ken and Dian (Medford), Janet and Gary Simpers (St. Augustine, FL) and Linda and Gary Giuliano (Cedar Brook) Cherished grandmother of Jason and Liyang Hattrick-Simpers, Corey and Adam (Danielle) Hattrick, Evan (Lindsay) Saltzberg, and Eric and Tina Saltzberg, great grandmother of Isabella, Sophia and Chance. Predeceased by her brother Llewylln. Born Feb. 16, 1928, in Newark, NJ to Llewylln F. and Anna S. Earl. Shirley grew up in Kearny, NJ. She was a 1945 graduate of Kearny HS, and a 1948 graduate of Methodist School of Nursing, Brooklyn, NY, the last graduating class of Cadet Corp of Nurses WWII. First working at North Port VA Hospital, NY, where she met John and married May 28, 1949. They moved to Ancora NJ, in March 1956, employed at Ancora State Hospital. Thus began a Nursing career that spanned over 50 years until age 82. She became Director of Nurses at Kessler Memorial Hospital, later Night Nursing Supervisor at Garden State Community Hospital (Virtua Marlton) and in 1975, she opened Bamberger's Deptford as Industrial Nurse and then Night Nursing Supervisor Kennedy Memorial Hospital Stratford Div., where she was recognized as Manager of the Quarter in 1992. Shirley returned to nursing after brief retirement at Voorhees Center Genesis, she was honored as Nurse of the Year in 2004. She will be remembered for her dedication to her vocation and her steadfast devotion to her family. The family would like to thank the staff of Genesis for their loving and respectful care.
