Obituary of Richard R Roberts

Richard R. Roberts, 75 yrs., passed away on Wednesday, April 5, 2017 in Philadelphia, PA. He was born in 1941 to the late, Richard, Sr. and Thelma Roberts (nee Cottman) in Philadelphia, PA. Richard was born a man of God. Served in the United States Army as a paratrooper. He was an avid reader, a great dancer and enjoyed constructing model planes. In his younger days he was regarded as an amateur actor, performing in local drama productions. Most of all, he will be remembered for his infectious smile, good sense of humor and love of people. He had a huge heart and trust of people less fortunate than himself. He met people, took them in and made them part of his family by providing things they could not provide for themselves. He is predeceased by his beloved wife, Lillian Roberts (nee Legions) and brother, Ronald Roberts. Richard is survived by his loving daughters, Silvera Jenkins and husband Anthony, Dorthel Roberts and husband Terrence Jenkins and Sheila Roberts and husband Robert Jennings, Regina Webb, son Donald Govens and daughter in law Asia, stepsons Anthony, Christopher and Vincent Jones, many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews and friends. Relatives and friends are invited to Richards's visitation on April 19h from 9:00 to 10:00 at the Community Baptist Church at 428 North 40th Street, Philadelphia, PA. A service will follow. Interment will be private at Washington Crossing National Cemetery with military honors.
