Obituary of Elmer E Madara

Elmer E. Madara, age 85, of West Berlin, NJ passed away on Friday October 6, 2017 at the Samaritan Center at Voorhees. Beloved husband of Nancy Madara (nee Helfrich). Loving father of Mary Ellen Bundick, Douglas Madara, Eric (Kim) Madara, Eleanor Bruce, Jamie Madara (Angel Macias), and Patricia Madara. Grandfather of John Madara and 11 other grandchildren, great-grandfather of 12, and great-great grandfather of 1. He is also survived by his dogs Dixie and Brutus. Elmer was born in Vineland, NJ and had resided in West Berlin since 1971. He was a graduate of Pleasantville High School, Class of 1950. He worked for 37 years for the New Jersey Department of Transportation, retiring in 1997. Mr. Madara was a member of the Unity Lodge #96 Free and Accepted Masons, Mays Landing, NJ, the New Jersey State Grange, the Hoopers Hounds Gun Club, and the Old Estellville Methodist Church. In his free time, Elmer enjoyed farming, especially lima beans. Viewing will be held on Wednesday October 11, 2017 from 7:00 to 9:00 pm and again on Thursday from 10:00 to 11:00 am at the Leroy P. Wooster Funeral Home and Crematory, 441 White Horse Pike, Atco, NJ. A prayer service will begin at 11:00. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Berlin, NJ.
