Obituary of George Edward Matthews

George Edward Matthews, age 68, of Southampton, NJ, passed away on Wednesday February 7, 2018. Fiancée of Theresa Alicea. Beloved father of Kristina Matthews (Bruno Guerreiro). Loving brother of Edward (Maureen) Matthews, Robert (Valerie) Matthews, Betty (Paul) Beyers, Ginger (Billy) Tomlin, the late Craig Matthews, Sr., and the late Henrietta Popson. He is also survived and will be sadly missed by many nieces, nephews, and cousins. George was born in Camden, NJ and resided most of his life in Blackwood, NJ before moving to Southampton, NJ. He proudly served in the United States Army in Vietnam from 1968-1970. A visitation will be held on Tuesday February 20, 2018 from 10:00 to 11:00 am at the Leroy P. Wooster Funeral Home and Crematory, 441 White Horse Pike, Atco, NJ. A memorial service will begin at 11:00 am. The urn will be placed into a niche space at the Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veteran's Cemetery, Arneytown, NJ, with military honors at 1:30 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to DAV-Disabled American Veterans, PO Box 14301, Cincinnati, OH 45250.
