Obituary
Obituary of Judith A. Yockel
To laugh often and much; to win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children, to know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived, is to have succeeded. On Friday October 22, 2010 A beautiful life had come to an end, She died as she lived, everyone's friend. Judith A. Yockel passed away suddenly at Virtua Hospital in Marlton.
Ms. Yockel was born in Swarthmore, PA and had been a longtime resident of Evesham Twp. After retiring she spent her time in America's #1 beach community, Ocean City, where she opened her home to others and could be found spending time walking the beach or visiting the Crab Trap. Judy began working at Esterbrook Pen Co. as a Lab Scientist developing pen ink. She had also worked as a Ticket Agent for Pan American Airlines. After graduating with a Bachelor's Degree from Glassboro State College she had made a 30 year career out of teaching. Judy taught at the Archway Programs in Atco for 8 years, then at Edgewood Junior High School in Winslow for 22 years and had retired in 2007. She will be fondly remembered as a social butterfly with a feisty but good sense of humor who had been crafty and loved latch hook. She had met with her high school reunion club and the Edgewood Jr. High retired teachers group every month. More than anything, Judy loved children and lighthouses. Although she never had children of her own, like the lighthouse, she was the beacon of guidance and hope for so many of her students, her friends and her family.
Judy is the daughter of the late Raymond & Anna (nee Ocharuk) Yockel. She is survived by her aunts Vera Newman & Florence West, her nephew Frank J. Ross and her dear friend Francine Hallman and her family and many friends. Judy is also survived and will be sadly missed by her faithful companions Gigi and Scootch.
Relatives and friends are invited Judy's viewing on Friday evening between 6 and 7 pm at the LeRoy P. Wooster Funeral Home 441 White Horse Pike, Atco where a funeral ceremony will be celebrated at 7 pm. Inurnment will be held privately. As an expression of sympathy and in lieu of flowers donations can be made to the American Cancer Society 626 N. Shore Rd. Absecon, NJ 08201 or the Alzheimer's Association of South Jersey 11000 Lincoln Dr. Marlton, NJ 08053.
