Obituary of Mary D. Rynex-Gerhardt
(nee Keefe), Age 89. Of Atco, formerly of Pompano Beach, FL, and Moorestown, NJ.
Mary passed away peacefully on January 26, 2011.
Beloved wife of the late Edward L. Rynex, Sr., and the late Charles Gerhardt.
Devoted mother of Edward, Jr. & his wife Sue, of Carlisle, PA, Susan Rynex, and Stephen & his wife Carol, all of Atco. Affectionately known as GiGi. (Greatest Grandmother), she was the loving grandmother of Edward III & his wife Amy, Jeffrey Metzner, Nancy Cochran, Michael Muckley, Stephen Rynex, Jr., and Andrew Rynex. Great-grandmother of six. Beloved sister of the late Helen Ritchie and the late George Keefe.
Mary was the owner of Midtown Liquors in Atco. Throughout her life she participated in civic and charitable organizations including The Moorestown Women's Club, and The American Heart Association. While living in Florida she volunteered her time in several area hospitals.
Mary had a vivacious personality, and was kind and generous. She possessed the ultimate fighting spirit, surviving melanoma, breast, ovarian, and lung cancer. She traveled to many global destinations, flew on the Concorde, and the sailed on the QE2. Mary loved spending summers in Atco with her family, and jaunts to Atlantic and Ocean City. Her hobbies were looking for treasures at garage sales and solving the daily crossword puzzle. She was an avid supporter of the American Heart Association and St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. She enjoyed her retirement years in Florida with her friends. Her joie de vivre was infectious and she will be sadly missed by her family.
Per her request, no services will be held. As an expression of sympathy, donations can be made in her name to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN, or the American Cancer Society.
