Obituary of Joseph T. Betteridge
On a magical Wednesday in October, in a ballpark jammed with 46,411 euphoric witnesses, the impossible came true.Roy Halladay will come to understand what he did on a baseball field in Philadelphia. To say he made history doesn't do this justice. To say he pitched a baseball game that people will talk about for the rest of his life doesn't truly capture the magnitude of it. Think about this. Think about what this man did..Think about Joseph T. Betteridge, Sr. who went safely home at the age of 72 on Monday May 30, 2011. Joe was born in Philadelphia and had spent the early part of his life in south Phila. Joe was the Philly Fanatic who loved hockey and baseball and had coached his boys during their childhood Quick witted, social and friendly, He was a loving father and husband who moved to south jersey and raised his family in Washington Twp for 40 years. More recently, Joe & his wife enjoyed their golden years in Egg Harbor Twp. Mr. Betteridge was dedicated to his faith and had been a parishioner of St. Joseph Church in Somers Point where he had served as Eucharistic Minister.
