Kenneth Fauquier

Obituary of Kenneth G. Fauquier

America's flag dos not move because the wind had blown past it. Our America's flag flies from the breath of our soldiers who protected it. Our American soldiers don't fight because they hate what's in front of them; they fight because they love what's behind them: their wife, family, community and country. Kenneth G. Fauquier's legacy of generosity, dedication and faith began on August 26, 1917 in Jersey City, NJ and had ended at his home in Berlin on Saturday July 2, 2011 at the age of 93. Kenneth died as he lived; a beautiful life and everyone's friend. Kenneth was an outgoing people lover with a wonderful sense of humor who was often referred to as "the mayor". Mr. Fauquier faithfully defended his country as a Captain in the U.S. Army during WWII and served in the Mediterranean, European-African-Middle Eastern and American Theaters. He had always felt fortunate and generously gave. He had been a past President of the Upper Saddle River Lions club and was instrumental in building Methodist Churches in Bergenfield and Upper Saddle River. Kenneth had worked as an Oil Tanker Broker for Texaco and Dietz, both in NY for over 39 years and had retired early at 58. He loved retirement! He enjoyed children, tending to his perennial garden; motor coached around the country and spent winters in FL where he developed a fascination with NASA. He attended launches, collected mission patches and even got to know Astronaut Eileen Collins. In later years, Mr. Fauquier moved to Liesuretowne and more recently Berlin. Mr. Fauquier is survived by his wife of 70 years Ruth (nee Albers) Fauquier, his children Michelle & her husband John Feigenbutz of Berlin and Richard & his wife Jean Fauquier of Hillsdale. Kenneth is the proud grandfather of Tracey Truby, Jacqueline Fauquier and great grandfather of Alexandra M. Truby. He is also survived and will be sadly missed by his sisters Dorothy Whitaker and Marjorie Gasaway. Relatives and friends are invited to Kenneth's viewing this evening from 6 pm to 8pm and on Thursday from 10 am to 11 am at the Trinity United Methodist Church 438 Rt. 561, Berlin, NJ 08009 where a funeral ceremony will be celebrated at 11 am Pastor, Rev. Wesley Hawk officiating. Graveside and military tribute will follow at the Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Arneytown. As an expression of sympathy and in lieu of flowers donations can be made to the church at the above address.
