Josephine Williams

Obituary of Josephine M. Williams

We are changed by those we love who have left us because we were formed by them while they were here. Josephine, Because of you I love a little more, because of you I don't give up quite as fast and because of you I take time to give an extra kiss goodbye. Because of you, today, I am me. On Thursday August 25, 2011 that extra kiss said goodbye to Josephine M. Williams (nee Sandone) at the age of 98. Remember me in your hearts, in your thoughts. If you always think of me I will never have gone. Josephine was born in Philadelphia and spent her early years in Dumnore, PA. She had worked at the Third National Bank in Scranton, PA. Working alongside a young man named Robert he became the love of her life and they were married in 1936. In the final years of WWII, Josephine & Robert moved form Phila and settled in Westmont, the south jersey suburbs in 1945. She became a parishioner of the Church of the Holy Saviour and was a member of the Altar & Rosary Society. Mrs. Williams was a wonderful mother and was active in her sons' lives. She had worked for the Haddon Twp. School District, was a member of the PTA and the Boy Scouts. In later years, Josephine became a young widow. She worked for Dewee's in Haddonfield and at Viking Cabinets as a secretary, until her retirement. Mrs. Williams was an independent woman who joined the Indian Mills Young at Hearts Club but loved spending time at home in Atco occupying herself reading, crocheting and doing needle point. She was an excellent cook with an unmatched meatball recipe and was quite the cake decorator. Should you go first and I remain to walk alone, I'll live in memory dear with happy days we've known. Mrs. Williams is the widow of her late husband Robert F. Williams. She is the loving mother of Bob & his wife Gloria and Charles "Luke" and his wife Carol Williams. Josephine was the excellent grandmother of 6 and great grandmother of 9. She was the oldest and the last of her siblings and was predeceased by Charles, Jr. Pat and John. Relatives and friends are invited to Josephine's visitation on Thursday morning between 9 am and 10:30 am at Christ the Redeemer Parish, Assumption Church 318 Carl Hasselhan Dr. Atco where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 am. Interment and graveside tribute will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Cherry Hill. As an expression of sympathy and in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Heart Association 1 Union St., Suite 301 Robbinsville, NJ 08691.
