Obituary
Obituary of John D'Angelico
Of all the military bugle calls, none is as easily recognizable as Taps. There is something singularly beautiful and appropriate in the music. Although its strains are melancholy, it's full of rest and peace. Its echoes linger in the heart long after its tones have ceased. John D'Angelico's generosity, dedication and love will linger long in our hearts after the infirmary of age brought rest and peace. On Friday September 23, 2011, John's day was done, God is nigh.
Mr. D'Angelico was born in South Phila and is part of our nation's greatest generation. He faithfully defended the ideals of American freedom as a Fireman First Class in the U.S. Navy during WWII. Because of John the red of our flag was made redder by his heroism, the white more pure and the glorious banner of blue has been glorified by his service. John had been a resident of Stratford for over 50 years. He had been a dedicated and longtime parishioner of Our Lady Guadalupe Parish, St. Luke's Church in Stratford. Mr. D'Angelico worked for the U.S. Government and traveled for over 30 years as an Equipment Specialist. He had been a life member and past officer of the William P. Keeney Memorial VFW Post 7365 in Stratford. John enjoyed cars and the casinos. He loved playing poker with the cigar in his mouth, scotch by his side and straight flush in his hand. Mr. D'Angelico will be fondly remembered as a good family man and provider. He is survived by his wife of 51 golden years Catherine (nee Goglia) of Stratford. John is the father of Catherine & her husband Jack Buonanno of Deptford and Linda & her husband Pat Procopio of Philadelphia. Growing old is mandatory but growing up is optional. John loved spending time with his grandchildren. He is the proud grandfather of Matthew and Michael Buonanno and Catie and Alfredo Procopio. Mr. D'Angelico is also survived and will be sadly missed by his nieces and nephews; Msgr. Anthony J. D'Angelico, Theresa D'Angelico, Mary Helen & her husband Larry Rich, Georgianne & her husband Bob Hodges, Victor P. D'Angelico and his many cousins, neighbors and friends. In times like this we seek comfort by turning to our faith. John's heroism, heritage and legacy will be remembered in the house of the Lord at Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish, St. Luke's Church 55 Warwick Rd., Stratford on Monday evening between 7 and 9 pm and on Tuesday morning from 9 to 10 am where Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 am, Msgr. John D'Angelico, officiating. Internment will be held privately. As an expression of sympathy and in lieu of flowers donations can be made to Compassionate Care Hospice 600 Highland Dr.#624 Westampton, NJ 08060 www.cchnet.net< www.cchnet.net/> or to Stratford Ambulance 502 W.
