Judy Skinner, former Staff Sergeant, U.S. Army posted a condolence
Sunday, February 24, 2019
Whenever I get a chance to speak to a Vietnam veteran, I take the opportunity to tell them why I decided to serve. I was in grade school when they were in Vietnam, but my Mom always stopped everything so we would listen when there were casualty reports on the news. She honored them and prayed for their families.
As protesters called returning veterans terrible names and accused them of being murderers, she was incensed. She was a kind and gentle woman, but that made her furious. That planted the idea in me to someday do something to honor them.
As a young woman, I decided that one way i could do that was to serve in the Army myself, which I did for 11 years. I did nothing heroic, nothing particularly dangerous, but I tried to do honor to them in the way I carried out my duties and in how I conducted myself. I only regret I never had the chance to share this with Mr. Turnpu. He does have family, his brother and sister veterans.

"Thou therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ." (2 Tim 2:3)
May Mr. Turnpu find peace and comfort in the arms of the Almighty and let his earthly pains and sufferings stay behind.
To the owner and staff of Wooster: I read about Mr/ Turnpo's death, and your services, on a national news site (Brietbart). As a veteran of the Vietnam era, I cannot possible thank you enough for your compassion, respect and generosity. The name of the police officer who brought this matter to your attention was not revealed. but I ask you let him/her know how much their efforts are appreciated, as well. Please tell them that 'Thank you' came from a 30-year LEO retiree.
May God bless all of you.

I knew peter in the early 1950s. His mother, Linae(spelling ?) emigrated fromEstonia with Peter and was hired through a NY agency by the Frelinghuysen family (related to Senator Rodney Frelinghuysen of NJ) as a live-I cook on their cattle farm in Holmdel,NJ where I lived with my family. My father managed the farm. Peter attended the Morganville Gramer School with me for a short time before he and his mother moved to S. Jersey and I lost track of them. I remember Peter as a blonde little boy my age. He was an avid stamp collector..
