Obituary
Obituary of Patrick Redmond
Hark when the night is falling, Hear! Hear the pipes are calling, loudly and proudly calling down through the glen, high as the spirits of the old highland men. On Wednesday September 28, 2011 those pipes called the spirit of Patrick Redmond home at the age of 93. Summer's gone and all the roses falling, 'tis you, 'tis you must go and I must bide.
Mr. Redmond was born in Glasgow, Scotland and spent his young adult life there. As a young boy he would bike around Scotland, often visiting St. Andrew's Links. Patrick went to work doing what he could to help support his large family and he bravely served in the British Army as a Corporal during WWII. In 1948 Patrick emigrated to the United States on the Queen Mary and was naturalized as a U.S. Citizen in 1951.
Mr. Redmond had worked as a Butcher for many years and will be remembered as a hardworking family man who loved to sing and dance. Patrick had been an avid fan of soccer and golf and in his later years he loved to travel and cook and was very active with the Atco and Hammonton Senior Citizens.
Mr. Redmond is the widower of his late wife Agnes (nee Murphy) and is survived by his children Nora Wood, Ann & her husband Mark Buttari and Patrick and his wife Deborah Redmond. Patrick is the proud grandfather of 6 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and is also survived and will be sadly missed by his only surviving sibling Ellen McCory.
Relatives and friends are invited to join the Redmond family this morning to sing like no one's listening and dance like no one is watching between 9:30 am and 10:30 am at Christ the Redeemer Parish, Assumption Church 318 Carl Hasselhan Dr., Atco where a Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 am, Pastor, Fr. Thomas Barcellona, officiating. Inurnment and the re-uniting of Mr. & Mrs. Redmond will take place privately. As an expression of sympathy and in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a charity of the donor's choosing.
