Obituary
Obituary of Florence V. Scelso
The butterfly counts not months but moments, and has time enough to laugh often and much, to appreciate beauty and find the best in others. The butterfly emerges from its silken shell - reborn, it arises. No longer bound to earth, free at last. On Tuesday, October 11, 2011, Florence V. Scelso (nee Knight) emerged from infirmary, after 79 years she arose, no longer bound to earth, free at last to a place of light and peace.
Mrs. Scelso was born in Camden during the depression where she was instilled with a strong work ethic. Most recently she had been a resident of Thorofare. Florence was a strong willed, intelligent and caring wife, mother and grandmother. Since very early on, she had worked hard for her family. Florence had worked as a waitress, a magician's helper in Camden and as a licensed Realtor for many years. At home she cared for her mom and dad and in later years worked alongside her husband George at S & S Fuel in Berlin as an Office Manager for over 20 years. Florence loved to dance; 'jump, jive and jitterbuggin'. She had been a member of the Atco Senior Citizens and ran their bus and overnight trips. She adored her grandchildren and cherished spending time with them in Disney, oh those Wildwood days or at the Christmas time fashion shows. The air was alive when she and George were together. Their world revolved around each other for 20 years and they just played off each other. They lived full and happy. One gift above all others, one that knows no time, no place and one gold cannot measure. The precious, poignant, tender gift of memory. Mrs. Scelso had bequeathed the precious, tender gift of life so others can overcome the infirmary of Alzheimer's and dementia.
Florence is the wife of the late George White, Jr. and George Scelso. She is survived by her daughters Victoria Rosch & her husband Arthur Miller of Bordentown, Kimberly Dougherty of Williamstown and Toni Ruban of Thorofare. Mrs. Scelso is the proud grandmother of Sean, Rebecca, Amanda, Shanna, Tara, Joseph and great grandmother of Kara, Nolan, Aleigha, Vanessa, Raeonna, Arieonna, Angelica, Alyssa, Reynaldo and Joseph. She is also survived and will be sadly missed by her extended family; Pamela Scelso, Loretta Scelso, Sharon Scelso, George Scelso, Jr., and Scott Scelso
