Obituary
Obituary of Jonathan E. Van Sciver
All I know is something like a bird, within her song. All I know, she sang a little while and then flew on. The time too brief, the experiences, too few. but the love and the memories will last forever. "Jonny V" was an enigmatic lone wolf who did his own thing on his own time and in his own way. Sometimes we can see the smoke of a burning home but who can know of a burning heart? A beautiful life had come to an end. Jon died as he lived, everyone's friend. Jonathan E. Van Sciver passed away unexpectedly at home in Lindenwold at the age of 42 on Saturday October 29, 2011.
Jon was born in Stratford, raised in Atco and recently spent time in Palmyra and Lindenwold. He worked as a Union Roofer for 18 years and was a member of the United Union of Roofer, Waterproofers and Allied Workers, Local 30 in Philadelphia. He was intelligent, funny and competitive. Jon loved life and family and was a passionate sports fan. On the campground Jon challenged his nieces and nephews at golf. As a young man he played football, baseball and wrestled. He cheered on his Eagles and Phillies and spent Friday night's pitching horseshoes in the Garden State League. At home all he needed was ESPN. Jon was a true "deadhead" and followed the Grateful Dead all over the country. He loved to have a good time and laugh and will be fondly remembered as the baby and the best of all of us.
Jon is the son of Arabella (nee Franks) and the late Harry G. Van Sciver, Sr. of Atco. He is the brother of Pennie Koch of Satsuma, FL, Tammy Watson of Hammonton and Harry G. Van Sciver, Jr. of Waterford. Jon was the best uncle to Charles, Jessica, D.J., Nicole, Harry, III, Bryant and Jennie Ann. Jon is also survived and will be sadly missed by his many friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to join the Van Sciver families to remember "Jonny V" on Friday evening between 6 pm and 9 pm and on Saturday morning between 10 and 11 am at the LeRoy P. Wooster Funeral Home where funeral services will be celebrated on Saturday at 11 am. Pastor Russ Eggert, officiating. Interment and graveside tribute will follow at Atco Cemetery, Atco.
