James Daly

Obituary of James R. Daly

The best portion of a good man's life are his little, nameless, unremembered acts of kindness and love. Jim had a big heart and was always willing to lend a hand. He was humble and possessed a sincere integrity. We that loved him so, followed him, honored him and lived in his mild and magnificent eye. He had been dedicated to his Church and faith and on Wednesday November 16th 2011, James R. Daly was called home to the Lord while at home in Hammonton. Your heart has brought great joy to many and those hearts can never forget you. Jim was born in Audubon and spent his early years there before moving to Collingswood. He had more recently been a resident of Hammonton for the past 18 years. Jim contributed to the manpower of our nation, fighting during WWII as a Corporal in the U.S. Army, to uphold the ideals of our American freedom. Following his service to our country he attended "radio school" and had worked as a television camera man for over 20 years at NBC in Philadelphia before retiring in 1985. Among the many events he covered during his career, he covered the Three Mile Island accident in 1979. Jim was a longtime parishioner of St. Lucy's Church in Blue anchor. At home, he enjoyed wood working and was a handy man. Jim had a dry sense of humor and loved to dance travel and ski or just enjoy family get togethers. Mr. Daly is survived by his wife of 32 years Barbara (nee Sabo) Daly. Jim is the father of Stephen & his wife Diane Daly, Suzanne Latorre, Mark Daly, Judith & her husband Marty Moritz, Michael Lutz, Diane & her husband Joe Burgoyne and the late Kenneth and his wife Mary Lutz. He is the proud grandfather of 23 and great grandfather of 2. When someone dies, you don't get over it by forgetting, you get over it by remembering. Relatives and friends are invited to join the Daly families to celebrate and pay tribute to Jim on Monday morning between 9:30 and 11 am at Christ the Redeemer Parish, Assumption Church 318 Carl Hasselhan Dr. Atco where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 am. Fr. Tom Barcellona, officiating. Interment will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery, Cedar Brook.
