Stan and I went to high school together and spent many, many hours listening to and talking about music. We would take the high speed line from Lindenwold to Philly, buy a bunch of records and go back to his house in Magnolia and listen to every one of them. Stash had a very enlightened attitude towards the music we bought. It might have been the new Alice Cooper or Blue Cheer album; on the other hand it might have been the latest album by Fairport Convention or the Incredible String Band; whatever it was, he found value in it. Whenever I thought we had bought a "lemon" he would remind me that the band must have thought it was good, otherwise they would not have released it. Thus,it was his job as a listener and a fan to play that album as many times as it took for him to find the value that the band saw in it...When my high school sweetheart, Rita, and I moved to Africa shortly after high school I gave Stash my record collection, not thinking I would ever return. I did, however, and we went back to listening to music together again. I'm sorry our paths went separate ways.I moved around a lot, finally settling in California. But Stash-- kind, gentle soul-- will always remain in my heart.
