Obituary
Obituary of Barbara A. Mercer
When you walk through a storm hold your head up high and don't be afraid of the dark. Walk on with hope in your heart and you'll never walk alone. The Lord had promised that he would walk alongside us. At the end of the storm is a golden sky. In the early morning hours of Saturday February 25, 2012 the Lord walked alongside Barbara A. Mercer (nee Grubbs) and swept her off her footprints in the sand and carried her home.
Eternity begins and ends with the ocean's tides. Barbara's eternity began in Magnolia where she spent the early part of her life. She made her home in Atco for the past 41 years where she raised her family. Barbara was a congregant of the Atco Presbyterian Church. She loved spending time poolside, relaxing on the beach enjoying the sun, going shopping or just hanging out with her lifelong friends, especially with Barbara Stoudt. Barbara will be fondly remembered as a beautiful wife, an amazing and loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend. Those memories will linger on long after the footprints she left in the sand are gone. One gift above all others that God gives us to treasure, one that knows no time and no place and one that gold cannot measure is the precious, tender gift of life. Barbara had generously given a lasting legacy, the gift of life.
Love me tender, love me sweet, you have made my life complete and I love you so. Barbara leaves to cherish her memory, her husband of 48 years Frank Mercer of Atco. She is the mother of Ann (Fred) Morrison of Monroeville, Tammy (Todd) Crump of Atco, Dawn Messick and Vicky Gindville both of Atco. Mrs. Mercer is the proud mom-mom of Erika (Dave), Sarah (Benson), Ben, Danny, Joshua, Ryan, Kevin, Heather, Courtney and great grandmother of Torissa and Sabryna. She is also survived and will be sadly missed by her sister Janet Geiger, her brother William (Karen) Grubbs, Jr., her brother in-laws John (Debbie) and Warren (Karen).
Relatives and friends are invited to join the Mercer families on Wednesday evening between 6 pm and 8 pm and on Thursday morning between 9 am and 10 am the Atco Presbyterian Church 2259 Atco Ave., Atco where a funeral ceremony will be celebrated at 10 am on Thursday. Pastor Joseph Beggs, officiating. Interment and graveside tribute will follow at Berlin Cemetery, Berlin.
