Obituary of Preddie I. Ford
Preddie Ike Ford, otherwise known as “Ikey” was born in Brooklyn, New York on January 29, 1953 to Preddie and Nancy Ford. He passed away on March 28, 2019 back in his hometown of Brooklyn. Ikey lived in Sicklerville, New Jersey for over 20 years before moving back to Brooklyn.
Ikey was raised in Brooklyn, where he attended elementary through High School. He spent a few years in Florida and California before returning home to New York. After reuniting with his family in New York, they moved to South Jersey where Ikey worked in various hospitals in environmental services. He was loved by his fellow workers and made employee of the month.
Anyone who knew Ikey, understands that he was truly one of a kind. He was loving and had an open heart. His optimism was contagious and made everyone around him laugh and feel better. He loved people and had no problem talking to strangers and making them smile. We will miss hearing his catchy phrases like “ain’t no Ray Charles/Stevie Wonder about me” or “I don’t play the radio” and hearing him talking about his plans for the future. He was so excited to embark on his new journey of having a place of his own and stepping out on faith. He enjoyed basketball, reading, music and spending time with his family.
Ikey is predeceased by his parents and sister Charlene. He is survived by his former wife and companion of over 50 years, Jacqueline, three daughters, Lakisha, Halima and Kyla, two sons, Troy and Malcolm and two stepsons, Jamaal and Jeremy. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren: Troy, Jr., Romello, Jaden, Malcolm, Jr., Edahn, Aaliyah, Djassi, Xavier, Bexley, Cameron, Maximus, Azelia, Zara Lee and Abeau. He also leaves behind his sisters Debbie, Rose and Sharon and brother James along with several nieces and nephews.
