I am sorry for the passing of Brendan. I loved coming home in the evening and seeing him Lilly and Rhyann sitting on the front steps. The three of them just made my day! I would always stop and sit with them. I remember Rhyann and Lily riding their bikes with Brendan running behind them, keeping the bikes from tipping over. When I come home now I often think of them.
I can still see Brendan smiling and all three of them telling me the days adventures, all at the same time.
I am sorry I could not attend the funeral. I and my son Eddie found out about his passing after the funeral.

Thanks for all the memories, my favorite was when you were screaming at us to “get off the roof and out of the bay windows” and calling yourself “the responsible one” haha. I also rather enjoyed when you finally bagged up ALL the trash and recycling in the loft and were too lazy to carry it down, so you threw it over the balcony, but the bags of trash got stuck on the fence posts. I’m going to miss you man, and Brian too. He said he still remembers you running around in diapers and tells a story about being told to go to his room and yelling out the window to your sister to “help”, and never forget The deli’s always open for you man. Say hi to everyone up there for me? And please remember to look down on us for time to time. Love you and we will miss you

I had the honor to teach Brendan in class & coach him in football and lacrosse. His enthusiasm, energy, and
passion for whatever he was engaged in was limitless.
The memories I have for Brendan will stay with me forever. His service to our country was very special. When he returned from active duty the local Yellow Ribbon group gave him a awesome reception. He was
so proud of his commitment to the Marine Corps and we coaches shared that pride. Rest In Peace Brother.
You will be missed. God Bless the entire Gillen Family.

Some people throw around the phrase of “one in a million”, Brendan truly was. I was fortunate enough to grow up with Brendan and there are no shortage of memories and stories. Brendan had passion in ALL things he cared for - whether it was sports, the love of his country or the people around him. There was no better encouragement than one from Brendan. Although we went our separate ways after high school, I have always and will always remember Brendan for his smile, his passion and for his willingness to fight for what he believed in. God bless you, Brendan and love and prayers to your family.

We will always remember Brendan as a classmate and playing sports with our sons growing up in Medford Lakes. He was a really good athlete, I remember him smacking home runs in little league. As he grew up it didn't matter where we saw Brendan, there was always that 1000 watt smile and the biggest hug. Our prayers and condolences to the entire family. God Bless you Brendan.

Sorry to hear this news brendan was a good guy. I think brendan had it alot worse on the inside than most people realize. I remember gillen growing up in medford lakes. Last time i saw him was 10 years ago around christmas in 2009. His grandfather lived next door to me and we invited him over for some beers and then we got wrestled and were shown videos from the middle east... shame he passed. Best of eishes to his family.

Brendan and I we were both born on December 15th, 1986 at Memorial Hospital. We became friends in High School and we both lived in San Diego. We spent a lot of time together in High School and in SD. I remember happy times going fishing, lobster hunting in San Diego and obsessing over Philadelphia Sports. When I think of Brendan I think of his loyalty. He would have done anything for his friends, his family and me. He was the most loyal friend I had. Brendan will always be with me.

I spent a lot of time with Brendan growing up. It seems like a long time ago. Brendan represented the phrase loyal devotion to duty and loved the Marine Corps and everything that being a Marine represented. I had the opportunity to pick him and his buddy up from the airport when they flew into San Diego. I drove them up to Camp Pendleton and dropped them off at their first duty station. I remember having to stop at the burger king on base so he could change into his uniform before checking in. I am currently stationed in Okinawa but sending my deepest condolences to his family and friends.

I served with Brendan at Camp Pendleton when I was in the Navy, and we became fast friends after discovering we were both from the Tabernacle/ Shamong area and had gone to the same high school. We had some good times in California, he was always a fun person to be around, and I’m glad I could call him a friend. My most heartfelt condolences to his family during this difficult time.

As a kid I remember Brendan defending me from a bully. That memory is something that has stayed with me well into adulthood. He chose to do the same in defense of his country and Marine Corps brethren. Not a lot of men have that kind of courage. RIP Brendan - Your family is in our prayers.

When a Brendan was in the Corps he would often call me during his deployments. I’d wake in the wee hours of the morning to my phone ringing from a middle eastern country location. No matter the time, I’d always answer. Gillen was always so proud of his service to the Corps and loved it with all that he was.

Gil was one of the first Marines that introduced themselves to me when I got sent to India Btry. We shot a lot of artillery and had a lot of good laughs. I love this man like a brother. We used to BBQ and talk for hrs. We learned a lot from each other, about the Corps, artillery, and just life. I will forever miss you Gil.
I also want to give the family my complete sympathy and condolences. I am so sorry for your loss, and I hope that you can find a way to find peace will Brendan’s departure.
