Obituary of Anthony B. Cannata

Anthony B. Cannata, Sr., age 95 of Atco, passed away on Thursday March 1, 2012 at his daughter's home in Palm Coast, FL. Mr. Cannata was born in Philadelphia, PA and had been a lifetime Atco resident. Tony was dedicated to his faith and had been a devoted and active parishioner of the Assumption Church in Atco. His heart and hands helped build the Assumption Church School and he was the head usher for over 50 years. Mr. Cannata faithfully defended his country in the U.S. Navy during WWII and had been a member of the Atco School Board, the seniors bowling league, Past President of the San Sostine Society in Waterford and a lifetime member of the Atco Seniors Club. Tony worked as a machinist at RCA in Camden for 33 years, as a maintenance man at the Cedar Ridge Apartments in Blackwood for 10 years and at the Berlin Farmers market for 15 years. Mr. Cannata is the husband of the late Mabel Marie (nee Chiumento). He is survived by his children Anthony, Jr. & his wife Virginia of Egg Harbor Twp. and Brenda Donaghue-Morrell & her husband Thomas Morrell of Palm Coast, FL. Tony is the brother of the late James DePasquale, the late Mary DePasquale but is survived and will be sadly missed by his many nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to join the Cannata family to celebrate Tony's life through faith on Thursday March 8th between 9:30 am and 11:30 am at Christ the Redeemer Parish, Assumption Church 318 Carl Hasselhan Dr., Atco where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:00 pm. Fr. Thomas Barcellona, officiating. Interment and military tribute will follow at Atco Cemetery.
