Obituary of Leon Solomonik
LEON SOLOMONIK, 71- of Atlantic City passed away February 23, 2012 at Cooper University Hospital. Born 1940 in Shanghai China to German parents, he was adopted by Boris and Tamara Solomonik and raised in Nice, France. Leon was educated by the Jesuit Brotherhood, studied at the London School of Economics and held a degree in gemology. He lived in a Kubitz, and at 18 served in the Israeli army. Later he moved to Paris where he met and married Carol Sperling in 1969. They moved to Beverly Hills where he worked in management. Leon traveled extensively residing in Paris, New York City, Las Vegas, San Francisco, Fort Lauderdale and Lahaina, Maui. He spoke French, Russian, Hebrew, German, Italian and Arabic. During these years he worked for the US State Department security force. Moving to Atlantic City in 1979, he was employed in various food and beverage positions at the Sands, Claridge, Bally's and Showboat. Always a sun worshiper, Leon loved the Boardwalk, swimming and tanning on the beach. He is predeceased by his birth and adopted parents. Surviving are his daughter Alexandra Brewer and husband Grant of Lahaina, Maui, HI, stepson Anthony Behar and wife Anna of Manhattan, NY and grandchildren Jason, Justin and Lily Brewer. Leon touched many lives and will be remembered for his humor, pocket full of candy, and always being the gracious, suave gentleman. A remembrance celebration of Leon's life will be held 12 noon, Monday, March 12 at Latz's by the Bay, 801 Bay Avenue, Somers Point, NJ.
