Obituary of John J. Flaherty

John J. Flaherty, Sr. of Mullica Hill, NJ age 76 years passed away at his home on May 13, 2012 after a lengthy illness. John was born in Germantown, PA. He was a US Navy Veteran serving during the Korean Conflict. John continued to serve his fellow man by becoming a Law Enforcement Officer. He is a former Police Chief of Ocean Gate, NJ and a Retired Sheriffs Officer from the Ocean County Sheriffs Office. Deep down, John wanted to be a Cowboy. He enjoyed watching Westerns and especially "John Wayne" movies. In the words of John Wayne's character, Duke Gifford in (Operation Pacific): "He was a good man. Make sure that it says so on the patrol report." Yes, John was a good man, let's remember that. Mr. Flaherty is the beloved husband of Annette S. (nee Rolfzen) He is the father of Maryann Garduno of CO, Kathleen Forte of Marlton and the late John J. Flaherty, Jr. and the late Patrick Flaherty. He is the brother of Charles Flaherty and the late Rosie Dauitolo and the late Peggy Billingieri. He is also survived by a granddaughter and a grandson. Relatives and friends are invited to attend John's Memorial Mass on Friday at 2:00 pm at the Catholic Community of the Holy Spirit, 17 Earllington Ave, Mullica Hill, NJ. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Samaritan Hospice, 5 Eves Dr., Suite 300, Marlton, NJ 08053.
