Obituary of Shirley M. English
Shirley Marie English (nee conley), born June 9, 1931 to the late Virginia Honn and James Conley, beloved wife and mother passed into eternity in the early morning hours of June 20, 2012 at her daughters home in Williamstown, NJ.
Shirley spent her early years growing up in Clementon, NJ where she was a champion swimmer and high diver for the Clementon Swim Team. "Cutie" was also an avid roller skater and met the love of her life while doing so.
On July 13, 1949 she married James D English in Elkton, MD and a life time of memory making began. Over the next decades she worked as a seamstress, a waitress, and cleaned houses, but most importantly she gave birth to and raised 11 children instilling in each of them the will to be strong independent people. Shirley was an exceptional cook and enjoyed cooking and entertaining her family and friends. She also loved to spend time crabbing and playing cards with her "DFLB" Pinochle Club. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Woodlyn Fire Company, the VFW, and the American Legion.
She is survived by her devoted husband of nearly 63 years, James D English Sr, and their 11 children; Shirley Lee & Husband Bill Goszy, James Jr & wife Donna, Charles & wife Jeannie, Doris & husband Ed Genzano, Betsy & husband Darrell Chittum, Dotsy & husband Bob Guenzer, Kathy & husband Lou DiDomenico, Verna & husband Chip Goss, Vicki & husband Jon Kroljic, Bob & wife Kim, and Joe and wife Tracy. Mrs English is also survived by and will be sadly missed by her 38 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren, sister Ginnie Renshaw and brothers Jay Renshaw and Lee Conley.
A memorial ceremony will be celebrated privately at the Calavary Fellowship Church of Gloucester County. As an expression of sympathy and in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to City of Light Ministries P.O. Box 202 Atco,
